Frequently Asked Questions
How does counseling work?
Counseling involves a therapeutic relationship between a trained counselor and a client who is seeking change in his or her life. People seek counseling for many different reasons: depression, addiction, crisis, grief, major life changes, marital or family conflict, or simply the desire to get “unstuck” or find help to make necessary changes in life. Counseling begins with an initial meeting where the counselor will gather client information and history and work with the client to develop a plan to meet their needs. Counseling may be with an individual client or the counselor may encourage meeting with a partner/spouse or other family members.
Who can benefit from counseling?
Everyone has challenges and issues and could benefit from counseling. Our staff serves children, teens, individuals, couples, and families.
How long is a session and how often will I meet with a counselor?
An average session lasts 45-60 minutes depending on the agreement with your counselor. A person may come to counseling once or choose to continue regular counseling until they have met their goals. The number and frequency of sessions depends on several factors, including but not limited to: the goals established in therapy, severity of the issues, and the client's willingness to actively participate. This will be determined by you and your counselor.
We also offer Intensive Counseling Sessions, which are typically 2-4 hours a day for 2-5 consecutive days, depending on client needs and counselor availability.
Will what I share be kept private?
All of your conversations with our staff are completely confidential. We are committed to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality (except where mandated otherwise by law, as in the case of child and/or elder abuse, or imminent danger to yourself or others).
What kind of training does your staff have?
Each of our staff members has either a Master’s or Doctoral degree in counseling or psychology, and is licensed by the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling or the Arkansas Social Work Licensing Board.
Some of our staff members also have specialized training in specific areas of need. Please review each counselor's bio for more information about their advanced specialized training.
How much does counseling cost?
Our session fees typically range from $150-$195 depending on your counselor. The fee will be collected at the start of each session. Group counseling costs $55-$75 per session depending on the group. We accept cash, check, credit or debit cards.
Will my insurance company pay for counseling?
Most insurance companies have psychotherapy benefits but since Mental Health coverage is policy dependent, we highly encourage you to verify the benefits of your specific insurance plan before scheduling an appointment. Click here to find out if you can utilize your insurance for counseling.
What if I have to cancel my counseling session?
There is no charge for any session cancelled with at least 24-hour notice prior to the scheduled appointment. Sessions cancelled with less than 24-hour notice will be assessed a full fee.
